a view from my desk

part of desk lamp, knitting needle on ceramic dish, recently completed cards, curtain made w/ raw edges showing of favorite joel dewberry print, printers tray with wooden spools, may arts twine on 50cent towel holder in mustard yellow, antique jars holding flowers and buttons, favorite jade colored lamp, lots of ribbons on spools, antique wooden box, fat quarters, lots of unfinished fabric-projects, fabric in hoops and kona color chart on walls.  that is what I see from my desk.

RECYCLE!

I took a 25 cent necklace that I found at a sale and repurposed it into some jewelry that I will actually wear! FUN and FRUGAL! go me!

Ribbon Art Quilt

Pictured above is my ribbon art quilt.  This mini quilt is decorated with 15 different May Arts Ribbons, vintage buttons and thread.
The new May Arts key ribbon pairs well with the vintage mother of pearl buttons.

Kids and Capes=Serious Fun.

kids and capes=serious fun!
This is a cape made for a queen, a wicked queen that is!  I took extra upholstery fabric, leftover from floor pillows, folded it and cut out slits for arm holes.  I then embellished it with LOTS of May Arts ribbon.  I created a ruff using gray/silver ribbon.  added polkadot to tie around the neck.  and all along the edge used embroidery ribbon.  I then tied the pink on top of the bun for a queenly crown, and added a ribbon bracelet for that extra touch.

Boys and capes are a great combo. Knight, wizard, Prince, vampire...the list can go on.  for this cape I simply used the gold chain from may arts and sewed it along the edges.  I then sewed the cape onto the actual shirt.  easy peasy and hours of play time!
